چکیده

The aim of our research is to analyse the importance of texture information for affine registration of gray-scale far-infrared (FLIR) images and gray-scale images taken in the visible spectrum. Texture features are extracted by Laws texture coefficients and used for computing registration criterion functions. The proposed feature based approach is compared to the commonly used approach, where a registration criterion function is computed directly from intensity features, i.e. grey values. The experiments on a small database of ten image pairs show that our texture feature based registration method works well for the given image modalities. Furthermore, we can expect more robust and more correct registration when texture based criterion function instead of intensity based one is used.

Fusion of Thermal Infrared and Visible Images Based on Multi-scale Transform and Sparse Representation

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, combination of these two types of images is essential for better understanding the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images have most importance to distinguish targets from the background based on the radiation differences, which work well in all-weather and day/night conditions also in land s...

Modeling the potential of Sand and Dust Storm sources formation using time series of remote sensing data, fuzzy logic and artificial neural network (A Case study of Euphrates basin)

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, the combination of these two types of images leads to better understanding of  the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images are really in distinguishing targets from the background based on the radiation differences and  land surface temperature (LST) calculation. However, their spatial resolu...

A Feature Matching Algorithm Based on an Illumination and Affine Invariant for Aerial Image Registration

This paper presents a new feature matching algorithm for registering aerial images with large illumination distortion, similar patterns, affine transformation and low overlapping areas. In this algorithm, affine invariant regions are obtained by a K-NN graph and its corresponding adjacent graph. Then an illumination and affine invariant called Illumination Invariant MultiScale Autoconvolution (...

Extraction of Suitable Features for Breast Cancer Detection Using Dynamic Analysis of Thermographic Images

Introduction: Thermography is a non-invasive imaging technique that can be used to diagnose breast cancer. In this study, a method was presented for the extraction of suitable features in dynamic thermographic images of breast. The extracted features can help classify thermographic images as cancerous or healthy. Method: In this descriptive-analytical study, the images were taken from the IC/UF...

Compensation of brain shift during surgery using non-rigid registration of MR and ultrasound images

Background: Surgery and accurate removal of the brain tumor in the operating room and after opening the scalp is one of the major challenges for neurosurgeons due to the removal of skull pressure and displacement and deformation of the brain tissue. This displacement of the brain changes the location of the tumor relative to the MR image taken preoperatively. Methods: This study, which is done...
